Code of Practice on transparency of AI-generated content

Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-generated Content

The voluntary code supports compliance with the AI Act's transparency obligations under Article 50(2), (4), and (5) for marking and labelling AI-generated content. It is structured in two sections: rules for providers on marking and enabling detection of AI-generated or manipulated content in a machine-readable format, and rules for deployers on labelling deepfakes and AI-generated text publications on matters of public interest. Signatories can rely on the code's measures to demonstrate compliance, following a positive assessment by the Commission and the AI Board confirming it as an adequate voluntary tool; non-signatories must otherwise demonstrate adequacy of alternative measures individually to market surveillance authorities.
