Guidelines and Code of Practice on transparent AI systems (Q&A)

The Commission adopted these guidelines to offer practical guidance to competent authorities, providers, and deployers of AI systems on the transparency obligations under Article 50 of the AI Act, which apply from 2 August 2026. The Q&A explains the roles of the guidelines versus the accompanying voluntary Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-generated Content, clarifies which AI systems and stakeholders are covered, and addresses how compliance with marking, labelling, and disclosure obligations can be demonstrated, including through adherence to the Code.
